Photo Project Aims to Shed Light on Qatar’s Football Culture Ahead of 2022 World Cup

With the recent conclusion of the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup and as the 2022 FIFA World Cup nears, Qatar is becoming a focal point in the soccer world. As such, ‘Goal Click Qatar’, an ambitious new photo project is using ‘photos and unfiltered stories’ to show the ‘intimate realities of Qatari football culture’.

Workers, fans, journalists, coaches, players all share their perspectives and stories. These profiles include Qataris and non-Qatari residents of the country, men and women, from 15 different countries. Each photograph has its own story.

The project, launched by Goal Click, wants to promote diversity and share Qatar’s ‘deep-rooted passion’ for soccer. The series was brought together in an exhibition at Darb Al Saai in Doha during the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup, in collaboration with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. The full exhibit is still available for viewing online here.
