Maha Al-Khater is a Graphic Designer and Urban Ecologist born and raised in Doha. After receiving her baccalaureate from Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, she then matriculated to the United States, where she is a double Masters candidate at New York’s New School for Social Research — Parsons School of Design, majoring in Urban Ecologies & Urban Practice. Imbued with an intense desire to change and improve the urban design quotient in her country, she came to America to further her educational background which she is looking forward to take back to Qatar.
As an informed citizen, Maha uses her role as a student to further her knowledge and contribution towards society. Coming from a unique environment, she uses the dynamic contexts existing within Qatar to investigate and build a portfolio of work and research. Focusing on the socio-spatial urban paradigm, she is interested in the sustainability of cities through the interdisciplinary collaboration between designers and communities.
