On Tuesday, October 30th, the Qatar-America Institute (QAI) was proud to host and honor Tomorrow’s Youth Organization (TYO), an American organization supported by the Qatar Fund for Development working to support community, non-formal education, women’s empowerment, and youth entrepreneurship in Palestine, at a special happy hour reception at its headquarters in Washington, DC.
Tomorrow’s Youth Organization (TYO) is an American NGO dedicated to serving disadvantaged areas of the Middle East through empowering youth and families to realize their potential as contributing members of their communities. TYO offers programs that serve refugee and other disadvantaged communities while breaking ground in non-formal education, women’s empowerment, and youth entrepreneurship. With the generous sponsorship of QFFD, TYO has been able to develop three new targeted programs for Palestinian families, in addition expanding its existing interventions. These inaugural programs invest in early childhood education, youth employment, and training in parenting and women’s empowerment.
The Qatar Fund for Development is a key sponsor of TYO’s efforts, and QAI’s reception celebrated their work in empowering women and impact on the people of the Middle East. The reception featured guest speakers Suhad Jabi Masri, TYO’s Center Director, and Maggie Anderson, a photojournalist with works published nationally and internationally. Maggie’s photography has been featured on CNN and ABC World News, and she has been published by the UNHCR and the World Food Program. Prior to joining TYO, Suhad worked as a personal counselor in Palestine for more than a decade.
The state of Qatar has a long established history and interest in pioneering the way for social reforms at home and in the region, especially on issues concerning women education and empowerment, and QAI is dedicated to championing and highlighting those efforts across the U.S. and the world at large.
