Dear Friends of QAIC,
2023 was an outstanding year for QAIC. The cultural hub, which we have continued to nurture has welcomed more than 7,000 people at our home in Washington for a variety of exhibitions and programs this year alone – three times as many as in any previous year. Our journey to bridge East and West made leaps and bounds, with a focus on the intersection between technology and the arts. Technology has the power to connect us and to spark curiosity, whether it be through the introduction of new innovative forms of art, as in exhibitions like VCU-Qatar’s Research Lab and our 2023 IMPART Artists Grant exhibition, or through the exploration of the olfactory arts, another focus of ours this year.
QAIC organized numerous interactive experiences for guests through more than 40 programs and partnerships, and participation in programs like the Dupont Circle Art Walk and Art All Night DC. Such partnerships allowed QAIC to share the rich tapestry of Arab and Islamic culture with broader audiences and celebrate what is shared between American and Arab cultures. We also deepened the threads of connection between our Qatari and American partners and audiences through the organization of two cultural delegations to Doha and the U.S., our annual IMPART Summit: Congress for Creatives hosted a Design Festival as well asa Perfumery Symposium this past fall. Products like our digital magazine A2Q also increased the literature available on art and culture between Qatar, the U.S. and the larger Arab and Islamic worlds.
None of this would have been possible without our partners, sponsors and donors who believe in our mission and vision to be a place where art and culture can be celebrated and appreciated. Where audiences are invited to ask questions and engage with the nearly 30 artists and creatives, we’ve featured this year through the visual, olfactory, film and performing arts. I’m proud to share with you the highlights of a year that illustrates the power of technology in its various forms to create a space for celebration, connection, and the exchange of art and ideas.

2022 Year in Review Report
Dear Friends of QAIC,
I’m thrilled to share with you our 2022 Year in Review. This year’s report highlights QAIC’s biggest milestones this year, in our own words and those of our partners. In 2022, QAIC engaged and strengthened the connections between our audiences, partners, and the artists we support both at our headquarters in Washington, D.C. and in Doha, Qatar.
In 2022, QAIC welcomed more than 1,700 visitors to our public programs in D.C. and in Doha. As a hub for creating, curating and executing programs, QAIC amplified the voices of more than 77 emerging and midcareer artists, filmmakers, designers, and creatives through exhibition and speaking opportunities, film screenings, public programs, along with a delegation that took emerging American artists to experience the sights, sounds and culture of Doha.
Our programs and exhibitions in 2022 engaged with our year-long theme of sustainability in the arts, the exchange of culture across the Silk Road through music and celebrated the cultural side of the World Cup. In doing so, QAIC collaborated with numerous partners in the U.S. and in Doha including the Doha Film Institute, the Fashion & Diplomacy Project, the Institute for Art and Olfaction, Qatar Museums, the Syrian Music Preservation Initiative, the Turkish Coffee Lady Foundation and more, to celebrate the diversity of Qatari, American and the Arab World’s culture through music, film, art and food.

I’m pleased to share with you our 2021 “Year in Review” report, which offers details of QAIC’s programs, partnerships, and products throughout 2021. With each year, I am thrilled to witness the growth of our community of supporters as our programs flourish and our impact broadens. It is a privilege to lead a purpose-driven organization like QAIC, which serves people from the two countries that I call home, into its fifth year of life.
