Arab America Foundation’s “Healing Together” Event

On the evening of November 29th, the Arab America Foundation hosted a heartwarming event, “Healing Together,” at the Qatar America Institute for Culture (QAIC). This gathering aimed to connect and empower Arab Americans as they came together to heal, grieve, and support one another amidst the ongoing war on Gaza. The “Healing Together” event provided a safe space for individuals to connect on a personal level, fostering a sense of unity and support.

As guests arrived, they were greeted by a scrumptious bake sale, offering a delightful array of Palestinian treats and goods. Local Palestinian-owned shops contributed their culinary expertise to create a mouthwatering selection of pastries, sweets, and traditional delights. The bake sale served a dual purpose – not only did it provide a platform to showcase Palestinian culture and cuisine, but all proceeds were dedicated to a noble cause: supporting Gaza. This initiative highlighted the power of community-driven efforts to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.

The event was graced by powerful and inspiring speakers who shared their thoughts on the importance of healing, solidarity, and supporting one another in times of crisis. Warren and Amal David, prominent figures in the Arab American community, delivered heartfelt remarks that resonated with the audience. QAIC Executive Director Fatima Al Dosari shared her vision for a united Arab American community and the institute’s commitment to fostering cultural understanding.

The highlight of the evening was a panel discussion featuring Omar Baddar and Senator Nick Rahal, who engaged in a thoughtful dialogue about the current crisis in Gaza. Their insights provided attendees with a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding the issue, fostering awareness and a sense of urgency for collective action.

The “Healing Together” event hosted by the Arab America Foundation at QAIC on November 29th was a powerful testament to the resilience and unity of the Arab American community. By coinciding with the International Day of Solidarity for the Palestinian People and featuring a bake sale fundraiser for Gaza, the event not only facilitated healing but also demonstrated the community’s commitment to making a positive impact on the global stage. As Arab Americans continue to come together, support one another, and raise their voices, events like these become crucial milestones in the journey towards a more connected and empowered community.
