Art from Qatar: QAIC Partners with Wilson Center
On Wednesday, December 7th, the Qatar America Institute for Culture (QAIC) attended the opening reception of the exhibition Celebrating Women: An Art Exhibition at the Wilson Center. Organized in support of the Global 16 Days Campaign against Gender-Based Violence, the exhibition was supported by QAIC, the Quebec Bureau Washington, the Inter-American Development Bank, World Bank, ROFA Projects, and the Embassies of Argentina, Columbia, Ecuador, Jordan, Qatar, Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic, and Uruguay.
QAIC contributed a painting by Qatari artist Haifa AlKhuzai, with the support of the artist, to Celebrating Women, which also featured garments, drawings, paintings and installation by women artists from each of the participating partners. The reception included remarks by Ambassador Mark Green and the organizer of the exhibition, Beatriz Garcia Nice, Program Associate and Gender-Based Violence Project Lead at the Wilson Center.
