Celebrating Our Members at Citi DC Open

Since winning the right to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar has been widely associated with football (American soccer). But did you know that Qatar is also a huge supporter of tennis? With their own tennis federation and annual Qatar Open, the country is a well-established champion of the sport.

With this appreciation for tennis in mind, Qatar America Institute for Culture (QAIC) joined in the fun at Washington, D.C.’s annual CitiOpen. A few lucky QAIC Members attended the tournament, enjoying the event’s celebration of athleticism and camaraderie. Highlights of the day included watching a host of singles matches, including tennis legend Andy Murray’s win over D.C.’s very own Brandon Nakashima.

Whether you’re a die-hard tennis fan or a casual observer, the energy and enthusiasm that permeated the air was infectious. The tournament proved to be an excellent opportunity to relish in the tennis community, as well as QAIC’s!
