Art of Athletics

Join us on February 9th at 11 am EST for a unique virtual event celebrating the intersection of culture, creativity, and athleticism in addition to launching our newest joint initiative with the Doha Film Institute, the Arab Film House Awards.
The event will host a panel moderated by composer Dana Al-Fardan featuring the director of the documentary Our Words, Our Cities Michael Holstein, as well as poet and recording artist Shanell Sharpe who helped students craft their poems in the documentary, plus players of the Washington Spirit soccer team, Aubrey Bledsoe, Dorian Bailey , Paige Nielsen, Sam Staab, and Tori Huster. Together they will discuss the important role of sports in shaping culture and building community, and the infusion of arts and creativity within sports as an essential means for holistic development, self-expression, cultural exchange, and social impact.
This event will also host remarks from partners in both Qatar and the United States, such as the Doha Film Institute and ConocoPhillips.
