QAIC’s IMPART Summit 2022: Celebrating a Year of Sustainability & the Arts

On Friday, December 9, 2022, the Qatar America Institute for Culture (QAIC), hosted a gala dinner celebrating with supporters, partners, and friends the second annual “IMPART Summit: Congress for Creatives.” Founded on the idea of convening creatives, artists, experts and innovators to facilitate dialogue, collaboration and new ideas. The dinner featured virtual and live remarks from His Excellency Ambassador Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad Al-Thani, Ambassador to the State of Qatar in the United States, Peggy Loar, Chairperson of QAIC’s Board of Directors, Derek Wong, Vice President, Government Relations and Public Affairs at Excelerate Energy and Fatima Al-Dosari, QAIC’s Executive Director. Esteemed guests included His Excellency Ambassador Jasem Albudaiwi of the Embassy of the State of Kuwait to the United States, members of the public diplomacy and commercial attaché offices of the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the United States, QAIC’s Board of Directors and QAIC sponsors and partners. 

The intimate evening featured a special menu inspired by recipes from QAIC partner and celebrated Qatari chef, Chef Noof Al Marri, an engaging and poetic talk and performance by composer, pianist and humanitarian, Malek Jandali, a special raffle from QAIC sponsor Qatar Airways and the announcement of the IMPART 2022 Artist Grant Awardees.  

The Gala kicked off a weekend-long program of panel discussions organized in partnership with the Mokha Institute and the Institute of Art and Olfaction, screenings of the three 2022 Arab Film House Award winners in partnership with the Doha Film Institute, an Art Souq featuring local sustainability-focused shop, This is Tribute, and an Art Party featuring spiritual painter Aida Murad and DJ Farouq Murad. Alongside the DC-based activities, QAIC partnered with the United States Embassy in Doha to further the reach of IMPART Summit by live-streaming the Art Party at the USA Pavilion at Doha’s Souq Waqif as well as hosting other interactive art and cultural activities.
