Museum of Palestinian People hosts children’s book talk and signing at QAIC

QAIC loves opening our home. Each month, our doors are opened as we share exceptional arts, tantalizing dishes, aromatic teas, and cultural deep dives. While families are always welcomed, it was an extra special treat to transform our ballroom into a haven for young booklovers on Saturday, September 24th

In partnership with the Museum of Palestinian People (MPP), we welcomed internationally acclaimed Palestinian author, Reem Kassis, who unveiled her very first children’s book, We Are Palestinian. This beautifully illustrated nonfiction book is a vibrant journey through Palestinian history, culture, and age-old traditions.

With children cozied up in a large majlis, Reem read excerpts of her just-released book. The children were delighted, enchanted, and enthralled. These young QAIC visitors demonstrated the popular Palestinian Dabke, shouted out the names of their favorite foods, and kept asking for “just one more story.” This rainy Saturday at QAIC was pure magic, echoing with laughter and young voices.

Reem Kassis is an award-winning author and advocate for the cuisine and cultural heritage of Palestine and the Arab world. Reem’s writing has been featured in The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Wall Street Journal, The FT, Serious Eats, Food & Wine, and countless other magazines and academic journals.

We were delighted to partner once again with MPP, a frequent partner and collaborator.
