QAIC Board of Directors Delegation

For the first time since the pandemic, QAIC’s Board of Directors was finally able to convene in-person. Board members convened in Doha, Qatar the week of March 13th. . The week-long trip included meetings with partners and sponsors, and board discussions about QAIC’s mission and success.  

At the start of their visit, board had the distinct honor to meet with QAIC Honorary Trustee, H.E. Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, and Chairman of Qatar Tourism. The Board discussed with H.E. ways to strengthen the support for and impact of QAIC’s work, both in the U.S. and Qatar.  

The following day, QAIC’s Board of Directors had the pleasure to visit Qatar Foundation’s Headquarters, mosque, and Education City including a visit to Virginia Commonwealth University Qatar (VCUQ). The Board had the pleasure to meet with Dean Amir Berbić to talk about mutual areas of collaboration between the school and the institute such as Research Labs, a current VCUQ exhibition at QAIC’s HQ in Washington DC.   

On Wednesday the 15th, QAIC’s Board of Directors conducted its annual meeting at Katara with the presence of Qatari members such as Mr. Ashraf Abu Issa, Dr. Khalid Al Sulaiti, and Dr. Shaikha Al Misnad, and American members such as Peggy Loar, Sandy Wilkins, and Kurt Nystrom. The meeting started with an overview presentation of QAIC led by QAIC ED, Fatima Al-Dosari. Special thanks to Katara Cultural Village for hosting the board’s trip as in-kind sponsorship this year.  

Later, QAIC’s Board of Directors and Advisory Council had the pleasure to meet H.E. Timmy T. Davis, US Ambassador to Qatar, at a lunch hosted by celebrated Qatari Chef, Chef Noof Al Marri, at Desert Rose Café, at the National Museum of Qatar. H.E. and the Board talked about shared experiences during the World Cup in both countries, and the role of cultural diplomacy post-world cup. 

QAIC’s Board of Directors had the honor to conclude its trip to Doha with a meeting with QAIC’s Honorary Trustee, H.E. Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums and Founder of Doha Film Insititute. The Board explored with H.E. ideas for collaboration and exchange to further strengthen artistic and cultural ties between both countries.
